Churning
Churning is the strategy in which an owner will continuously Add and Drop players from the Free Agency pool in an attempt to prevent their leaguemates from being able to Add said players to their rosters until the players cleared Waivers again. It has been widely debated, whether this is a viable strategy or a loophole in many league formats. Often mistaken for, or related to Streaming, the act of churning is not limited to Adding Starting Pitchers, and most often, the players who are added when churning Free Agency are never inserted into the lineup of the team who Adds them.
Many fantasy players consider this strategy illegal, citing Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball's Fair Play & Sportsmanship:
1. All league-related transactions will be executed wth the intent of improving the owner's team and/or its standing within the league.
2. No owner may drop or "dump" players from their team for any reason other than improving their own team and or its standing witin the league.
...
4. No owner will make any roster moves (including waiver claims, trade proposals, etc.) whose sole purpose is to hamper the play of other owners.
5. No owner will take any action whose purupose is to, in any way, interfere with fair play in a league.
